About Us
GameHearts
is a public benefit nonprofit organization committed to
providing alternative forms of entertainment to adult members of the
Kalispell area for the purpose of promoting adult sobriety. This page
is designed to answer questions about both the program and the means
through which it achieves its goals. GameHearts
achieves its directive by providing free and low cost gaming accessories
in a supervised non-alcoholic, sober environment. The primary games that
are promoted are tabletop customizable games, such as card and
miniature games. Presently, events are held twice weekly at our sponsor
site, The Boiler Room. The actual games are solicited through
donations, which provides the individuals and businesses making such
contributions with receipts that can be used for tax deductible
credit. Since GameHearts's
objective is to promote adult sobriety, this program is only
accessible to individuals over the age of eighteen. There will be a
certain overlap between individuals who are still under twenty-one that
are still considered minors under the law for purposes of alcohol use and
individuals of legal drinking age. But since the focus is to promote adult
sobriety, GameHearts serves both groups. The prevention of alcohol abuse
in those under twenty-one is seen as an even greater concern than
providing entertainment for legal consumers of alcohol, and we
consider it to be short-sighted for this program to provide services
solely to those of legal drinking age.
